It is a perennial plant whose stems reach between 40 and 60 cm in height. Linear leaves of 6-40 x 0.3-1.5 mm, covered with an aromatic whitish lint. Chapters in terminal glomeruli. Involucre 4-5.5 (-6) x 3-4 mm, cylindrical-campanulate, arachnoid in the 1/2 or in the lower 1/4. External involucral bracts ovate, subchoriaceous, tomentose; the stockings and internals from oblong-spatulate to oblong, scaly, yellow-golden. Female flowers of 3,13,5 mm; hermaphrodites 3.2-3.7 mm. Achenes 0.4-0.8 x 0.2-0.4 mm, glabrous, brown. Vilano 3.2-3.8 mm. It has a chromosome number of 2n = 28. It blooms and bears fruit in the winter months.
